FlexTeam Client FAQs

FlexTeam Client FAQs

FlexTeam is a project-based micro consulting firm specializing in competitive analysis / intelligence, market trends research / analysis , financial models/analysis, and business strategy. We are a trusted network of executive-level women working in teams to enable business leaders to accomplish more.

Here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions.

PROCESS

Are there any recruiting costs?

No! We don’t charge any upfront recruiting on project consulting fees.

(That said, if your project is not a consulting project but an expert recruitment project then the project fee is for recruiting candidates that fit your criteria.)

How does your vetting process ensure quality candidates that meet our requirements?

We get hundreds of applicants a month and less than 5% are accepted. Here is how we do it.

Every freelancer application is reviewed for length and quality of past experience. We then set up a preliminary chat to determine subject matter expertise, communication skills, and professionalism.

After the preliminary chat, each candidate does at least one trial project under the guidance of a subject matter expert. Most of our consultants qualify for expertise in only a few areas.

Only candidates that pass all parts of the vetting process will be accepted into the FlexTeam network. This is less than 5%.

Do I get to pick the FlexTeam consultant who works on my project?

Unlike a marketplace, the client does not select particular consultants, nor are FlexTeam members bidding on projects. (In fact, as a general rule, we don’t share the names or background of our consultants with our clients prior to scope approval.) This allows FlexTeam members to focus on challenging, interesting, and paid work instead of spending time doing business development or writing proposals or bids.

Can I request a FlexTeam consultant whom I’ve previously worked with?

Yes, you can certainly make these requests. However, we cannot guarantee that your desired consultant will be available to work on your project. Our process allows FlexTeam members to focus on challenging, interesting, and paid work (instead of spending time doing business development or writing proposals or bids). That said, providing ample notice of the project helps the consultant budget time for your project, and increases the likelihood that she will be available to work on your project.

How do FlexTeam project engagements work?

First, clients convey their needs to FlexTeam via email, phone calls, or our mobile app. FlexTeam provides clients with a scope with clear deliverables and pricing, after understanding clients’ needs. The project scope we return usually also includes estimates for time and an agreement on when the work product will be delivered to the client.

In parallel with defining the project with the client, our matching algorithm identifies the best FlexTeam member(s) to do the work and we reconfirm their availability (so that we are able to quickly start on the project once the client agrees to the scope). On occasion (when clients have very specific needs), we go out and recruit consultants for projects.

We believe that time is valuable, that it is the most precious resource we have. So our projects help our clients maximize the value of their time, and our processes are aimed at making efficient use of our clients’ time and consultants’ time.

Clients find that working with FlexTeam allows them to focus on higher level tasks that demand their attention, freeing them up to focus on making the right decisions.

Working with us allows you to focus on the bigger picture, accelerating growth and impact.

What is the FlexTeam software platform?

Our FlexTeam proprietary software platform allows you to easily monitor the progress of each project, and send us chat messages with any questions that arise — after agreeing to each scope of work on our platform. When projects are completed, you’ll also receive invoices via our platform — and you’ll be billed automatically so you never have to worry about sending checks or making payments.

How do I share the proposal or project with others on my team?

There are a few ways to share with others. You could just download the scope from the project page (link on top right) and it creates a pdf you can email. You could also invite new team members to your organization, and then give them visibility to a specific project on the project page. Finally, if you provide us with their names and emails, we can create accounts for them and give them access to the project page.

What access to paid subscriptions or databases does FlexTeam have?

We don’t have subscriptions to any specific data sources. We do have FlexTeam members that have access to academic databases / sources, and are able to use those on more research oriented projects. If clients have access to databases or purchase access for a specific project need, then of course we would use that information.

Without access to paid sources, the sources of information would be a combination of knowledge that the FlexTeam member(s) brings from their own experience, information that can be sourced online, and calls/conversations with specific providers or experts.

We have consultants located globally with a majority located in the U.S.A.

Most of our consultants have advanced degrees, including MBAs and PhDs, and all have gone through FlexTeam’s vetting process.

BILLING

What is your average pricing?

Whenever possible, we try to scope out project such that they can be priced with a flat rate, or with an hourly rate and range of hours to complete the work. When that is not possible, our average billing rate is $200/hr for typical projects (projects that don’t require special experts with deadlines two or more weeks from project acceptance and kick-off).

For projects with turnaround time shorter than two weeks and/or requiring special experts, the average billing rate is $275/hr. And for projects that require a turnaround of less than one week, billing rate starts at $350/hr.

Turnaround time is defined as the time from project scope acceptance and kick-off to first draft deliverable date / deadline.

Note:  There are no placement fees, termination fees, or long-term contracts

How often do I get billed and what payments can I use?

We invoice clients monthly or at project completion if the project takes less than a month — via our software platform — and clients can review invoices on the project page.

We currently accept all major credit cards and ACH. You can update your billing preferences in your account online.
